Hurricane could wipe out emergency center
County applies for $1 million grant for new emergency operations facility.
Victoria County could get an emergency operation center capable of withstanding 170 mph winds if its grant application for $1 million is successful…
The new center would be on an underground electrical grid, and it would have a generator for backup power. It also could provide room for an emergency center for Exelon if the company decides to build a nuclear plant in the county.
View an interview with County Judge Don Pozzi. Judge Pozzi said, “The location, should the grants be awarded, will be in the basement of the Bridgestreet Annex as well as probably the first floor of that building. A lot of that depends on the future of Exelon status because they have previously designated that building as their joint information center and EOC, so we continue to try to work hand in hand with them.”
